My really lovely upstairs neighbour/friends Anna and Frank have been offered the chance to become a part of an amazing co-housing situation just up the valley, so they’re going to do it. This means that their home, 169A Houghton bay road, is going to be empty and available to rent from March 2nd. It’s a super-lovely, warm, really well maintained 2 double bedroom plus a study top flat in a 1920’s house, with a modern kitchen and bathroom. There's a heat pump and it has wall, underfloor and ceiling insulation, and is partly double glazed. It’s very private and entirely surrounded by trees, and has its own secure E-bike (or acoustic bike) garage with charging power and lighting, off-street parking, a lovely established garden with lots of herbs and greens, fruit trees, a compost, two decks (one with its own private plumbed-in outdoor bath) and the house is across the road from a park and is three minutes walk from Princess bay and the beach in one direction, and three minutes walk from Houghton Valley School in the other. It’s a really beautiful home, and like living in a treehouse. Cool in the summer, sheltered, and warm and dry in the winter. You’ll be living above Me and my four year-old daughter Saoirse in the downstairs one-bedroom flat, so ideally you won’t have too many thrashing parties, and will get on with a charming four year old. If you’re anything like Frank and Anna you’ll also do a bit of shared cooking and gardening and hanging out with me (we’re pretty communal). But the two flats are fully acoustically insulated from one another, so they’re actually both pretty quiet if you’re into being more private. I used to live upstairs at 169A, and it was a lovely home to raise a small child in, so perhaps there’s now another couple out there who need a really good home, and want to hang out some with me and Saoirse also maybe.
